Around 18 million children survive on the streets of India without any kind of protection, assistance or supervision. In 2018 we started a new project with the local organization New Vision to try to solve this problem in six different communities of Pune.
In each of those communities we work with children and teenagers with ages between 6 and 18 years old who are not educated, are victims of children labor, beg on the streets or fall into criminal organizations hands. We also work with their families with the main goal of raising awareness on the necessity of increasing the access to the public health and education system. The objective is that those children and teenagers develop the necessary abilities that will allow them to protect themselves against the human rights violations and it will allow them to enjoy their childhood.
In each community we carry on the follow activities:
- Basic hygienic services.
- Monthly sexual and reproductive health sessions.
- Awareness work with families.
- Bridge course.
- Academic support.
- Sport activities.
- Visits and excursions.
