Here are some of them:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hanging a string at the front door with a lemon or lime and several chilies, as a symbol of protection against the evil eye.<\/li>\n<li>Not wearing any new clothes on Saturdays.<\/li>\n<li>Not cleaning the house at night for fear of scaring off the Hindu goddess Lakshmi.<\/li>\n<li>Not cutting your hair or nails on Thursdays or Saturdays so as not to provoke the wrath of planet Shani (Saturn).<\/li>\n<li>Not saying goodbye to someone or tell them something when they are going out the door, since saying their name is bad luck then. If you do so, they will be unlucky in whatever activity they are about to undertake.<\/li>\n<li>It is believed that if the first customer of the day buys something, the store owner will sell a lot the rest of the day.<\/li>\n<li>If you see three lizards coming towards you, it means you&#8217;re going to get married soon or you&#8217;ll have a lucky marriage, but things turn sour if there\u2019s an extra lizard. Four lizards coming at the same time are associated with an untimely death.<\/li>\n<li>As in other cultures, spotting a black cat means you\u2019ll have bad luck, but in India there is a way to prevent it from affecting you.
