Our “Community Development” project was set in Birajdar community and accompanied children and teens who had dropped out of school, were victims of child labor or child marriage, begged on the streets, or fell prey to criminal organizations. We worked to inform them and their families about their rights, the value of having an education, and fought child labor in their communities.
We helped them develop the skills they needed to protect themselves from violations of their rights, so that they could enjoy a fulfilling childhood.
In each community:
- We offered support to families so that they could send their children and teens to school.
- We provided tutoring classes to ensure good performance in school and to minimize dropout rates.
- We implemented comprehensive early childhood services and trained their parents in these areas.
- We implemented basic hygiene services with a gender focus.
- We carried out health check-ups for children and teens and raised community awareness on sexual and reproductive health, as well as mental health.
- We organized sports and integration activities to reduce the incidence of violence and drug use.
- We carried out numerous activities and programs to promote children's rights.
