From Invisibility to Hope: A First Victory for Vínculos Project

Living on city streets is one of the most extreme forms of violence a human being can experience. It is not just the cold, the danger to their physical and mental integrity, discomfort, or the lack of privacy. What is most devastating is feeling invisible. Crowds of people pass by them, yet an invisible wall isolates them from everything. This reality becomes even more cruel when the person, aside from being out in the street, had to flee their country in search of asylum and finds indifference instead.

Vínculos Project has achieved a first victory in face of this brutal reality. One of our students, who had lived on the streets of Malaga for two months, has now secured a space in a shelter. This was possible thanks to the tireless efforts of our language volunteers, the commitment of our volunteer social worker and, above all, to the courage of this young man who trusted us and all the people who make this project possible.

Through his kindness, his presence and his generosity, it is us who learn from him. We continue to stay close to him, certain that this is only the first step on a path of growth and dignity.

We are fortunate to have crossed paths and continue to move forward together.
