The world belongs to everyone, and migrants come from all over the world

At Asha-Kiran we believe that home is not just a physical place, but a welcoming gesture, an outstretched hand, a shared opportunity. For years, we have been providing support and care for the migrant population in India, and recently also in Spain. Our commitment is the same on both continents – to be close to those who seek a more dignified life, and to do so with respect, tenderness, and presence.

In Pune, India, there are many families who take their children to our Day Care Centers while they work in construction. They erect buildings and homes for others, while they themselves live in shacks and move constantly from one worksite to another. Their children often grow up with no roots, not “belonging” anywhere. They are the children who dwell among the cement and the dust at construction sites and in the streets... but they are also nurtured by Asha-Kiran’s affection. Even if life pushes them away, they will receive seeds of caring, learning, and a sense of belonging, sown with love during the time a building contract lasts.

In Malaga, Spain, the present moment has called upon us to be there for migrants fleeing poverty, armed conflict, and uprooting. Many have lost almost everything, or have left everything behind: their family, their customs, their safety. Some have crossed the sea risking their lives. What they seek is not a privilege, but a new beginning, a possibility.

Asha-Kiran welcomes them by offering steady steps: Spanish classes, emphatic support, legal advice, a listening ear and, above all, a community of volunteers that softens the burden of formalities, loneliness, bewilderment – people who build bridges where others build walls.

Our dream is simple and radical: that everyone feels at home, no matter where they are. That no human is treated as a foreigner in this shared Earth. That migration does not mean being excluded but simply being on one’s way.

In every daily gesture, in every shared moment, we nurture this deep yearning for equality. Because the Earth has no owner. And when we gaze into our essence, we all come from the same place.
