Love Turned into Action

Two Solidarity Gatherings That Made a Shared Gesture Possible

Last December, solidarity took shape in two different cities —Madrid and Málaga— brought together by a single impulse: to put love into action and to support real projects for the most vulnerable children and youngsters.

Madrid · Love at Christmas

On December 3rd, we celebrated a Love for Christmas event at Sanchinarro Cultural Center, during a deeply meaningful day organized by IntoKu together with Asha-Kiran.

That day was devoted entirely to fundraising for the new Day Care Center that we will open in Saint Louis, Senegal, on January 1st, 2026. This space is designed for talibé children who currently live on the streets, beg to survive, and have no access to schooling, food, hygiene, and basic medical care. Many of them have skin diseases such as scabies and other conditions that arise from the absence of proper care.

Several solidarity activities were organized throughout the day, such as a charity market, a raffle, times for meditation, and a Tibetan singing bowls concert. Every gesture, every presence, and every contribution was directed toward a single purpose: creating a safe, wholesome, and suitable place for these children, who may never know that, somewhere else in the world, many people join hands to care for them.

We wish to thank IntoKu from the bottom of our hearts for their dedication, empathy, and ability to create a space where love is turned into concrete actions.

Thanks to small contributions, something very important became evident that day, that

every gesture matters and has a real impact.

  • €5 → School supplies for 1 child for one year
  • €7 → Dignity kit (clothing and hygiene) for 1 child
  • €9 → Medical care for 1 child for one month
  • €15 → Schooling for 10 children for one month
  • €20 → Complete scabies treatment for 10 children
  • €25 → Daily meals for 12 children for one month

Málaga · Charity market and living community

On December 20th, the volunteers of Project Vínculos in Málaga organized a Christmas Charity Market at Ahó Cultura Center.

This Christmas celebration took place in our own way: repurposing objects and clothing, reducing their environmental impact, and raising funds to sustain the projects that Asha-Kiran is currently carrying out in India, Senegal, and Málaga.

The market was open throughout the day while several deeply meaningful activities took place: a profoundly healing gong bath, a talk by anthropologist Xabier Mikel Laburu Van Woudenberg on the harsh migratory journeys across the Mediterranean —and their human and family consequences— and, finally, the awarding of diplomas to students who have been attending Project Vínculos’ Spanish classes.

Many of these young people arrived in Spain without knowing a single word of Spanish. Some live in the street and rely solely on basic services such as communal meals and showers. On this day, several of them travelled from Almería, Granada, Jaén, and Torre del Mar to take part in the celebration, despite financial and logistical difficulties. They came because they know they are welcomed with affection, respect, and grace regardless of their origins, life story, or religion.

Project Vínculos will celebrate its first anniversary next January 31st and, to date, more than 250 people have already made use of Asha-Kiran’s headquarters in Málaga. Many have been referred to other provinces by organizations such as CEAR or Red Cross, but the bonds remain.

A Shared Spirit

Both gatherings in Madrid and in Málaga were woven by the same thread: Love and Friendship as forces that impel us throughout the year, not only at Christmas time.

At Asha-Kiran, we wish to express our deepest gratitude to IntoKu, to Ahó Cultura Center, to all the volunteers, supporters, and donors, and especially to those who came together with care, presence, and quiet dedication.

Onward we go, together.

You are invited to join our social work and become part of this living and caring network.
