Children’s day
Wishing to provide the children we care for with life tools, we encourage them to participate in planning one-off events in a children's committee called BalSabha, which means “wool-gathering” in Marathi, the local language.
On this occasion, they planned and celebrated Children's Day coinciding with Jawāharlāl Nehru’s birth date, a nationalist and politician who was prominent in the struggle for India's independence and who loved children dearly.
With their teachers’ help, the children planned “their” day, going over details like who would give the opening speech, what the theme of the painting contest would be, what materials they needed for making crafts and greeting cards, what games to play, and so on. The teachers made suggestions while allowing the children to lead the way.
There was enjoyment, laughter, and enthusiasm galore on their special day, as well as a special meal for everyone.
