Vínculos
Our new project “Vínculos” has already started giving Spanish classes, an indispensable tool for the successful integration of young refugees into society. The volunteers attended an informative workshop offered by CEAR (Spanish Commission for Refugee Aid, the most important entity in its field), where we learned some important details: the different legal statuses of migrants, the deadlines for receiving and submitting documentation, ways to work together, and more.
In addition to referring young migrants to us, CEAR is a reference in personalized attention and follow-up. Although the classes are underway on two different days, we want to offer other activities daily, hoping that the youngsters will feel comfortable and safe when they come to us. Along with the classes, they are given drinks, snacks, and a Wi-Fi connection so that they can be in touch with their family and friends.
The project is running smoothly so far. Our work has resonated with other entities, and the people we contact are receptive and cooperative.
Vínculos is the beautiful seed of something that we are building together.
January 30, 2025 - Impressions of our first day
Together, we are putting into practice what we have learned. We wish to contribute from a place of GIVING. Today, 54 trusting and receptive migrants came to learn some Spanish from us. Two African boys who already knew quite a bit offered to help their less experienced peers. Others asked if they could attend more lessons than the ones they had been assigned.
Our feeling of having been a part of the day's work filled our souls. A new feeling arose, very much like happiness. We are enthusiastic and willing. At a fleeting glance, it would seem like people don’t need anything from other people but, if we look closer, we all need everyone.
