A day to inhabit the body and calmness
To honor International Yoga Day, the children at our Day Care Centers spent part of the day practicing yoga postures (asanas) and breathing exercises, guided with care and mindfulness by their teachers. Through asanas such as Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Trikonasana, and Bhujangasana, they were able to relax their bodies and become aware of their body posture, while a meditation session paired with soft music helped their minds and emotions relax and take a secondary role.
These practices give them the chance to experience spaces free of worries and demands, which are so rare in vulnerable contexts. This way, yoga proves to be a real gateway to well-being: a deep sense of well-being that isn't just physical, but also includes mindfulness, inner calm, and connection with themselves.
In addition, having these sessions together encourages the development of a sense of unity and cooperation among peers, which in turn strengthens bonds and mutual respect. At the end of the activity, some children expressed their wish to bring yoga into their daily lives – a simple gesture that reflects how these experiences sow seeds of care, balance, and awareness from an early age.
