Parents’ meeting: family planning and vaccination
In many migrant communities across India, access to basic information about health and reproductive rights remains scarce. That’s why, at Fundación Asha-Kiran, we organized an informative session at our Day Care Centers for mothers and fathers, focused on two deeply relevant topics: family planning and childhood vaccination.
During the meeting, we discovered that many parents associated family planning solely with surgical procedures to avoid further pregnancies. They were often unaware of the broader dimensions of reproductive health, such as the importance of having children at a suitable age for the mother, the recommended gap of 2 to 3 years between births, and how these factors are closely connected to a woman’s overall health and well-being.
Through open dialogue and clear, accessible materials, we introduced them to modern contraceptive methods, and to non-invasive tools that empower families to make informed choices that support not only maternal health but also the stability and care of the entire household.

We trust that this gathering helped parents understand that family planning is not only about avoiding pregnancy. It is about protecting the health and well-being of both mothers and children and about making proactive choices to safeguard their children from serious illness.
