Rohan: Finding Clarity and Confidence to Shape His Future
Like many young people before starting their professional studies, Rohan felt very uncertain when the time came to choose a major. In a rapidly changing job market, without clear direction, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the multitude of options.
As a child, Rohan lived at Asha-Kiran's Yashodhara Home in Pune, India. As his mother worked as a domestic helper, she found it very difficult to cover all the expenses and meet her family’s daily needs.
A few years later, as a teen, Rohan joined our “Young Promises” project, dedicated to guiding and supporting young people in challenging circumstances through their vocational training.
Thus, our team provided Rohan with information about various options, offering broad and experienced perspectives, and encouraging him to explore different fields of study to get a clearer picture. After leaving his first job as an operating room technician, he decided to focus on a degree in electronic and telecommunications Engineering.
Rohan’s journey, much like that of other Young Promises, shows that career decisions are often the result of a process of exploration and learning. Hence, the value of having someone to provide the guidance young people need to move forward with greater confidence.
