The right to participate
The concept of the “Right to Participate” was explained at our Day Care Centers for the children of migrant workers through a video that emphasized the importance of every person to be an active agent in their own life, and illustrated how children also have the inherent right to be involved in various aspects of their lives, especially in their own homes, instead of being mere passive observers or impotent victims.
The message encouraged the children to engage in discussions, give their points of view and take part in family matters, empowering them to become aware and have a realistic appraisal of their role in shaping their environment.
At the same time, the explanation highlighted the significance of children’s voices being heard and respected, not only in their immediate surroundings, but in broader societal contexts such as their school and their community. Ultimately, the goal was to foster a sense of responsibility and self-confidence in children, motivating them to become active participants in all areas of life.
