Educating is sowing the seeds of the future: the most enduring language of love
In our project in Senegal, educating is not just about imparting knowledge. Educating is about opening doors that have been closed for too long. It is about offering talibé children real tools to rebuild their present and imagine a different future.
We educate so that writing and math become keys that will allow them to find their way in the world, understand it, and navigate it with greater autonomy. So that languages—French, English, local languages—become windows open to dialogue, learning, and new opportunities in life.
But our approach to education goes beyond the classroom. We educate with tenderness, movement, and art, because we know that many of these children grew up without safe spaces where they can express themselves, play, or feel cared for. The body, creativity, and emotion also learn. Preparing the heart to give and receive love is as important as learning to read or counting.
In contexts marked by homelessness, deprivation, and abandonment, education becomes a deeply restorative act. To educate is to care. It is to see each child as someone valuable, capable, worthy of attention and respect. It is to accompany processes of healing, self-esteem, and confidence, step by step.
That is why we say that education is one of the most enduring languages of love. A language that does not end in the present moment, but lasts over time, accompanying the lives of those who have received our time, our knowledge, and our presence. What has been learned remains. It walks with them. It turns into possibility.
In Senegal, every notebook opened, every word written for the first time, and every gesture of shared care is a seed. And we know that, with patience and commitment, those seeds can become the future.
