Values education
As part of our commitment to vulnerable children, the children at our Day Care Centers focused on a fundamental value this month: Equality. We invited them to discover that all people have the same value and deserve the same respect, regardless of their origin, religion, language, or circumstances.
We started out from their own circumstances: some come from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, or Madhya Pradesh, speak different languages, and belong to diverse communities, but they are all given the same care, attention, and affection. Through familiar examples, they came to understand that diversity enriches us and that equality is a principle that can be experienced, not just explained.
This teaching contains a profound moral value and offers essential tools for life, such as:
- Learning not to discriminate based on external factors
- Respecting the rights of others and defending one's own
- Encouraging equal participation in games and activities
- Promoting unity, harmony, and a sense of community
- Respecting other people's thoughts, feelings, and cultures
Education in values begins early on and is reinforced through living examples. That is why at Asha-Kiran we want to be role models for them: to show, through our daily actions, more enlightened ways of thinking, living together, and building a common future.
