Keeping You Informed

Asha-Kiran - ¿Y ahora qué?

What’s next?

After years of caring for vulnerable groups in India,
Asha-Kiran now extends its gaze to vulnerable young people in Malaga, Spain through its new project Vínculos. With this new endeavor we seek to generate a transformative impact, not only on the people we cater to, but also on the volunteers who participate, thus contributing to attaining the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030.

Vínculos aims to support the integration of socially vulnerable young people, including asylum seekers, humanitarian migrants, former foster youth, or youth at a serious risk of social exclusion. Through a series of social, educational and recreational activities, participants will have the chance to:

  • Expand their social network and strengthen their integration into the community.
  • Learn Spanish and improve their communication skills.
  • Structure their time in a healthy and productive way.
  • Improve their psycho-emotional health.
  • Learn about the available resources to facilitate social and work integration.

The ultimate goal of Vínculos is to promote the autonomy and dignity of young people by facilitating their access to jobs and housing and helping them overcome social vulnerability and exclusion. We want them to find the necessary tools to rebuild their lives and have a future with equal opportunities.

The values that guide the project are the following:

  1. Human warmth. We believe that, beyond services, a true transforming factor is genuine human closeness. Integration cannot be forced, but it can be facilitated through close, empathetic and respectful relationships. Therefore, our activities are designed to create a space of trust and closeness.
  2. Horizontality. In Vínculos, all participants have something to teach and something to learn. The diversity of experiences, cultures and realities is a source of mutual enrichment which strengthens coexistence and contributes to creating more inclusive, wise and resilient societies.
  3. Flexibility: We want this project to be accessible to all young people in need, regardless of their migratory status. They don’t need to comply with previous formalities or have specific documentation. It is enough for them to be referred by one of the collaborating entities.

Vínculos is looking for YOU. We are seeking

  • Reference Volunteers, to act as mentors for a youngster for 3 months. They will receive training, pass an assessment, and will be given proper guidance in their role as mentors.
  • Spanish Teachers, to teach Spanish adapted to the levels of the participants (a teaching degree is not needed, and we provide the necessary materials).
  • Psycho-emotional Wellness Volunteers, to run art therapy and theater workshops, and offer individualized therapy/support.
  • Cultural Workshop Volunteers, to give cultural exchange workshops for both the youngsters and the community.
  • Admin Support Volunteers, to manage databases, web content, create social networks, mailings, etc.

We hope that this new social initiative is welcomed by our sponsors, donors, and those with a vocation for volunteering. Follow the link for additional information or if you wish to participate as a volunteer:
