An eventful journey
Imagine that work opportunities are scarce in your hometown, and you cannot support your family. Faced with this stark reality, you decide to embark on an uncertain journey to an unknown land together with your partner and children, leaving the rest of your family behind in search of a better future. It is a difficult, risky and perhaps heartbreaking decision, but you have a responsibility that drives you forward.
Your destination is Pune, a booming city where the chances of finding a job seem more promising. However, the challenge remains: if you both need to work, what will happen to your children during the long working hours? Will they have to come along with you to construction sites filled with rubble and building materials? Will they be safe?
Fortunately, for some years now, the Indian government has required construction companies to provide a physical space to protect the workers' children. However, it is not mandatory to provide trained staff to care for them. This is where Asha-Kiran comes in – we hear the call of those in need and respond by providing a safe space for migrant children.
The work that we do at our Day Care Centers for Migrant Children is no easy task, but it is a shared effort. Social workers, administrative staff, teachers, cooks and drivers, each with their own tasks, perform a harmonious choreography. Together, we are committed to offering special attention to each child and their families, who trust us to work towards a brighter future.
We are deeply grateful for the chance to provide them with better living circumstances in every sense, and for the privilege of delighting ourselves in their bright smiles, which constantly remind us of our driving force.
